To ensure your coating stays in top condition and maximises its lifespan, it's important to understand the proper care and maintenance techniques. To avoid any awkward returns to your detailer or so you know what to expect before you purchase a ceramic coating, we will guide you through the do's and don'ts of caring for your ceramic coating, so you can comfortably enjoy it's benefits

for years to come.

How to Clean your vehicle Properly

Gentle Cleaning techniques and pH neutral chemicals are your friend when it comes to maintaining longevity. To maintain the integrity of your ceramic coating, it is crucial to adopt these cleaning practices, on top of regular safe detailing practices. If your unsure how to

safely wash the exterior of your car check this article out.

  1. Avoid automatic car washes. They use harsh chemicals that will reduce your coatings durability

  2. Only use pH-neutral car wash products (Avoid using strong degreasers, corrosive wheel cleaners etc)

  3. Pre-rinse your vehicle with a pH Neutral Snow Foam before contact washing to minimise swirl marks

  4. Wash your car in a shaded area to minimise the risk of water spots caused by premature drying. Never let any chemical dry on your vehicle while washing it (this also applies to non-ceramic coated vehicles).

Drying your Vehicle without introduce swirl marks

Drying your vehicle properly after washing is essential to maintain the ceramic coating's appearance and to prevent permanent water spotting. You've spent a lot of money to have your vehicle protected and looking its best, its important it remains that way. Here are a few drying tips to prevent unsatisfactory results.

  1. Use a clean, soft microfiber drying towel to gently wipe the surface. Avoid rubbing in circles, dry the vehicle from top to bottom and in the direction wind flys over it, this will ensure you minimise swirl marks.

  2. Use a drying aid or quick detailer. Drying aids or ceramic detailer sprays will increase lubrication and help minimise swirl marks. Most of these ceramic detailer sprays and drying aid products will also enhance gloss and provide additional protection on top of your existing ceramic coating.

  3. Dry your vehicle completely to minimise the risk of water spots, especially in direct sunlight or high humidity.

Additional Protection

Although the reason you got a ceramic coating was to make the car look good and protect it, failure to correctly look after the condition of the ceramic coating itself will dramatically reduce the lifespan of the coating. Here are some additional protective measures we recommend you take to ensure your ceramic coating stays in optimal condition:

  1. Use a SiO2 sealant or 'ceramic spray' every 3 months following a wash. This will refresh the hydrophobic properties and boost the coating's longevity.

  2. Avoid parking under trees or near industrial areas to minimise exposure to sap, bird droppings, or other environmental contaminants that can degrade the coating.

  3. Waxes are another great option and provide a warmer look to the paint than spray sealants. Waxes can typically be removed easier than sealants, but provide great extra protection to your ceramic coating.

The Do's and Don'ts for Ceramic Coating Care:

DO

  • Regularly wash your vehicle to remove dirt and contaminants.

  • Use proper car wash products and techniques as mentioned above.

  • Dry your vehicle thoroughly after each wash.

  • Apply a maintenance spray periodically.

  • Use dirty or rough towels for drying.
